NIST REFPROP 9: A Software for Reference Fluid Properties
NIST REFPROP 9 is a software program that provides tables and plots of the thermodynamic and transport properties of industrially important fluids and their mixtures, with an emphasis on refrigerants and hydrocarbons. It is based on the most accurate pure fluid and mixture models and experimental data available in the scientific literature.
NIST REFPROP 9 is an acronym for REference Fluid PROPerties. It is part of the NIST Standard Reference Database 23, which is issued by the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Standard Reference Data Program. The software was released in December 2010 and is compatible with Microsoft Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista, or similar operating system. It requires 20 MB of hard disk space.
The software allows users to calculate various properties of fluids and mixtures, such as pressure, temperature, density, enthalpy, entropy, heat capacity, speed of sound, viscosity, thermal conductivity, surface tension, Joule-Thomson coefficient, fugacity coefficient, virial coefficient, compressibility factor, quality, and more. It also provides functions for vapor-liquid equilibrium calculations, critical flow calculations, and refrigeration cycle analysis.
NIST REFPROP 9 includes data for more than 120 pure fluids and more than 2000 predefined mixtures.
